Achara ~ It seems impossible that Thai this good is coming from a chic respite off a vibrant street in Mexico, but Achara is the real deal and you’ll be dreaming of a return. What to eat: Curry Verde and Pad Thai.

Al Pastor Street Tacos ~ Street tacos are a way of life in Sayulita and two of the best are located on the same corner near the plaza, Tacos de Pastor Diaz and Tacos Al Pastor Tal Ivan. What to eat: Al pastor tacos, of course.

North Side Cafe ~ Local favorite for breakfast with numerous vegan options on the quieter north end of Sayulita. What to eat: Vegan breakfast burrito.

Though it has a surf-town vibe, Sayulita can be unexpectedly busy and a little crazy, especially near the main plaza. For calmer vibes, head to chill spots on the north side, like the minimalist cafe at the Don Benito hotel and North Side Café.

The closest airport is PVR in Puerto Vallarta, about 45 minutes away.

Unless you’re venturing outside of Sayulita, renting a golf cart is the preferred method of getting around town.
