Over at And a Day we are doing a recap of our San Francisco adventures here but I just couldn’t bear to leave out one of my favourite food discoveries. Outerlands is located on the far edges of San Francisco with Ocean beach virtually on its doorstep. From the moment you step inside you feel like you’ve discovered a secret cubby house with its floor to ceiling salvaged timber panelling. It’s the perfect cosy spot to escape from the cold and unforgiving seaside weather outside.
While the whole menu offers the best ingredients of the season you just can’t go past the toasted cheese sandwich with the soup of the day. Outerlands was also the first place to introduce to me the joys of hot cider (oh where have you been my whole life!?) and it was exactly like christmas in a mug. Just magic.
If you’re going to make the trip out that way I recommend that you set aside a few hours to nestle in by the window and take it all in because once inside, you’ll find it very hard to want to leave.
